Piles are swellings or swollen hemorrhoids that occur inside  and around the anus ,and along the anal canal. Hemorrhoids are masses, clumps cushions of tissue full of blood vessels support tissue, muscle and elastic fibers in the anal canal, everyone has hemorrhoids. However, when the hemorrhoids guarding the anal passage become too big due to inflammation, so that the vein walls become stretched, Thin and irritated by passing bowel movements,  that is when piles develops.

Piles are either dry or bleeding and often caused by chronic constipation, hard and knotty slots, intake of spices, wines, meats and also by poor or absent physical activity. Dry Piles is more painful, while bleeding piles render a person weaker. Pregnant ladies, elderly persons, sedentary persons who eat enormously and quite often but do no exercise, or the person taking above – mentioned dietary items, are more prone to piles. Persistent complaint may cause other complications also, such as fissures, cancerous growth, pain, swelling, smarting etc.

 There are 2 types of piles:

External piles (dry piles) – are located around the anus right under the skin, where there are many -sensing nerves. They, therefore, hurt as well as bleed. In External or dry piles there is inflammation of external piles, continuous pain and become unbearable while voiding the bowels.

Internal pile (Bleeding piles) – are located far within the rectum, and can’t be seen or felt. The only symptom is usually bleeding. The internal piles start bleeding and there may be excessive bleeding which lead to anemia and consequent emaciation.

Internal piles have classified into 4 part-

  • These are tiny hemorrhoids within the lining of the anus.
  • These hemorrhoids too lie within the anus and are slightly larger than 1st type hemorrhoids. These hemorrhoids may get pushed out while passing stool but return to the original position on their own.  
  • These are also known as ‘prolapsed hemorrhoids ‘. They appear outside the anus. The patient can push them back in by pressing against them with his fingers. 
  • These hemorrhoids cannot be pushed back and stay outside the anus at all times. They need to be treated by a doctor who usually suggests a surgery.                                                                                        

Symptoms of Piles

Bright red blood in stool or after a bowel movement, severe itching and pain in the anal area, pain during bowel movement.

Foods to avoid in piles

Just like some foods help you to remove the condition of hemorrhoids, in the same way some foods increase the chances, so better for you avoid this type of foods from your meal. foods to be avoided are junk food, fast food, deep fries, too spicy curries, cake, tea , coffee, alcohol, biscuits, fat cheese, butter, masalas and meats and chips , hot dogs and microwavable dinners etc.

Food should be eaten

Great food sources of fibre include split peas, lentils, black beans. whole grains, such as oats, barley, bran flakes, and brown rice vegetables , such as green spinach, cabbage, mushrooms, sweet potatoes you can also take apples, oranges, raspberry.

Fruits and vegetables – increase the intake of fruits because they contain more fibre than juice. Leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, cabbage should be taken. Other vegetables like asparagus, broccoli, tomatoes, onions, cucumber, turnips, carrots, celeries, coriander, Mushrooms can be consumed either as salads or in the form of vegetables soups or juices. Papaya is the best medicine as it contains protein enzyme called papain which helps in digestion. Other some foods that are recommended are ghee, mustard oil, olive oil, groundnut oil, soybeans oil, saturated milk, yogurt, wheatgrass, nuts, honey, sesame seeds, flax seeds, aloe vera and buttermilk.

Another easiest strategy to prevent your body from hemorrhoids is to drink plenty of water. Drink at least 8 to 12 glass of water daily. Drinking enough water benefits your whole body, skin, bowels movements and immune system.

Exercise

You can do a simple yoga to clean your colon and intestine. Along with healthy food, exercise is also very much required. Avoid exercise which causes too much pressure on your abdomen. Take morning and evening walk on regular basis and exercise according to your strength.

Ice-pack

Using ice-pack for piles is an effective natural remedy. It can be used to relieve pain, itching, and swelling associated with piles in the entire rectal area so that you feel better and don’t fell pain. It helps veins to strengthen, elasticize, and ultimately get rid from piles. You can apply ice-pace to the anal for at least 15-20 minutes to the affected area.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is an effective home remedy in piles because of it’s natural healing property and health benefits. It has strong anti- inflammation properties, which can help to reduce inflammation. Coconut oil has powerful antibiotic pain relieving properties can help to reduce discomfort caused by the hemorrhoids. You can also mixed kapur mixer and coconut oil for better result while its antibiotic properties allow the piles to heal faster. You can regularly use it, in your food or can also be applied to externally or internally.

If bleeding occurs then take a mixer of half glass lemon juice without mixing water with half glass of milk and drink it then you feel better and get relief.

Neem

Neem is a very useful natural herb which is very good for skin disease. It is having very good anti- bacterial, anti- inflammatory and pain -relieving properties. Hence it is very much useful in piles, fissure, fistula problem as in all these anorectal problems there is pain, inflammation and sometimes bacterial infection also. Take few leaves of neem leaves and turmeric and make a paste then apply on affected area.

Aloe Vera and pure cow ghee

Take some white part of aloe vera and turn into a paste and then mixed with1 spoon of ghee on affected area of anus. At least for 1 week you see result surely.

Sitz bath

A sitz bath is a hot water bath, which is used to cleanse the rectal area, which is the space between the rectum and the vulva or scrotum. It can also provide relief from pain or itching in the rectum area. When you take sitz bath also one things to do for better result boil ”triphala churna” or grated radish in water and pour  this water in a tub. Take sitz when water is tolerable hot.

Castor oil

Castor oil is a genty, natural remedy. Bit is known for its many benefits castor oil is also very helpful to treat piles and often brings relief after the 1st application if you suffer please try once.

Ginger and pomegranate

Add dry ginger powder or fresh ginger paste and Jaggery to pomegranate juice and drink daily. Mix 1/2 glass of sour pomegranate juice, 2tsp of ginger juice, 2tsp jaggery and 1/2 cup of buttermilk. This has to be consumed daily. Butter mil should be used at least twice daily.

Nagakesara

Nagakesara is recommended for stopping the bleeding from the anal region. The flower of the nagakesara plant is used to prepare the medicine. The flower is dried and changed into a powdery form. It is beneficial for patient suffering from both the dry and bleeding forms of piles. Take it 1 teaspoon full of thrice daily. The patient should follow it up with a cup of warm milk.

Abhayarista

Abhaya rista is the common ayurvedic medicine it is used for mild to moderate constipatipon, reducing hard stools in piles and anal fissures. While preparing  abhayarishta, the main ingredient utilised is haritaki. The dose of 30 ml of the medication needs to be mixed with an equal quantity of water. The patient should consume it twice daily.
